Nina Jukić (1985, Zagreb, Croatia) is a versatile musician - composer, sound artist, singer and music educator, currently studying electroacoustic and experimental music at ELAK (University Course for Electroacoustic and Experimental Music at mdw – the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna).

She holds a Teaching Certification in Deep Listening™ by the Center for Deep Listening of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York.

In 2023, she was awarded the phonoECHOES Prize for Sound Art, Improvisation and Experimental Electronic Music by the Austrian Composers Association for her fixed media piece “Everything I Learned About the Stars”.

Her composition “Wiegenlied” got shortlisted as one of the six finalists in the category “Elegiac” among more than 3000 applications during the Raster Media Open Call for Soundtrack Europe 2025.

In her music and sound art she explores sound textures and meditative states, often using field recordings and the voice as sound material. Inspired by surrealism and Buddhist philosophy, she experiments by juxtaposing composition and free improvisation, pre-recorded material and live performance, natural and artificial sounds. She is interested in creating surprising new sonic worlds that feel intimate, yet universal, while dealing playfully with deep topics such as the mystery, beauty and impermanence of life.

Her works got featured at international festivals such as Ars Electronica in Linz (AT), PAYSAGES | COMPOSÉS in Grenoble (FR) and shut up and listen! in Vienna (AT), as well as prominent radio stations. She participated in the community music project “On the Road with Tschick” by the Vienna State Opera (Wiener Staatsoper) as the electronic music composer and performer.

With her experimental pop duo Don’t Go she released their debut album “Jasmine” on Seayou Records in 2021, followed by concerts at festivals such as Waves Vienna and Kultursommer Wien.

Nina also composed award-winning music for theatre, directed music videos and designed sound for film. As a songwriter, she contributed to songs by pop acts such as My Ugly Clementine (AT). She also sings in a jazz band (The Juke Swing Band) and is passionate about analog photography.

Upon moving to Vienna in 2013, she was studying at the Department of Media Theory of the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Die Angewandte), and was key researcher at the artistic research project RESET THE APPARATUS! A Survey of the Photographic and the Filmic in Contemporary Art (2016-2019).

In her childhood and youth she was trained as a classical pianist, and went on to study at the University of Zagreb, where she has earned her two Master’s degrees - in musicology (Music Academy, 2010), as well as in art history and English (Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, 2012).

She lives in Vienna’s 12th district with her husband, 5-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son.
